Houston-based Process Environments (PEI) provides air filtration systems for a variety of industries throughout Texas and the Gulf Coast Region. The systems they design, sell, install and maintain require precision, expertise and easy operation. The company needed but lacked the same features in its IT infrastructure.
PEI’s server hardware and operating system were both beyond End-of-Life and could not support the latest versions of the company’s line-of-business applications, causing them to be “stuck” on older, unsupported versions of the software. In order to get current, the company needed to update the server hardware, operating system and the individual line-of business applications to ensure continued operation of the systems. The company also has a second location which needed access to the corporate servers and related computing functions.
Möbius Partners deployed a new Dell PowerEdge server running VMware virtualization technology. Two new virtual servers were created with current Windows Server Operating Systems – a domain controller and a remote application (terminal) server. Möbius then smoothly transferred the roles, functions and shares from the old server to the new virtual domain controller server with minimal downtime.
Möbius Partners replaced the residential-grade router at the primary location with a business class SonicWall firewall, and also deployed another SonicWall at the company’s secondary office. The Möbius team then created a secure site-to-site VPN tunnel to connect the two locations. Once secure communication was established, the application server was configured to support remote access by users in the secondary location. Möbius Partners also implemented a monitored UPS and data backup system to protect PEI’s new infrastructure. Möbius Partners achieved all of PEI’s objectives and the company’s leadership was very pleased with the overall implementation. Their current access to systems is much faster and seamless between locations.
Unlike their competitors, Möbius Partners doesn’t oversell solutions. They demonstrated to PEI that they weren’t just trying to sell hardware and/or software. Before suggesting any steps to take, they wanted to understand their unique challenges to provide a robust, secure and turn-key solution perfect for their needs.
