Möbius Partners Enterprise Solutions has earned a spot on Inc. Magazine’s annual list of the 500 fastest-growing private companies.
Möbius’ sales hit $12.1 million in 2004, up from $2.3 million in 2001, a 426.9 percent increase during that three-year period, said Jim Melloan, project manager for the Inc. 500, which is being released today.
The company already has doubled its revenue this year and is on track to do as well next year, said Jay Uribe, co-founder of Möbius.
A computer reseller for HP and Sun Microsystems, Möbius has made $26 million in revenue so far this year, said Uribe, 34, who founded the company five years ago with Junab Ali, 33. The company has landed some new customers including a large fountain drink company, which is helping to increase its business, Uribe said.
Möbius, with 12 employees, is the only San Antonio company to make the list this year. In Texas, 32 companies earned a place on the list, including eight from Austin, nine from the Houston area and nine from the Dallas area.
The No. 1 company nationwide on Inc.’s list is Video Gaming Technologies of South Carolina, maker of touch-screen gaming machines for casinos, with three-year sales growth of 9,720 percent.
"Most of the companies on the list are dealing with technology in some way," Melloan said.
This year, Inc. has seen more companies on the list that specialize in providing human resource outsourcing functions to companies, transportation and logistics services, and consulting services, Melloan said.
Companies that make the list have to be privately held, independent and based in the United States, and they have to apply for consideration, Melloan said. The magazine spot-checks the companies but relies primarily on their financial data, he said.
In addition to Inc. Magazine, Möbius Partners also made Hispanic Business magazine’s list of the 500 largest U.S. Hispanic-owned companies for the second consecutive year. Its rank improved to 315 in 2005 from 489 a year earlier. And in May, Entrepreneur named Möbius Partners to its annual list of the 100 fastest-growing new businesses, which examines companies no more than 5 years old.
