Möbius Partners opening Houston office in early 2006 By Catherine Dominguez After opening a branch office in Dallas last year, locally based Möbius Partners Enterprise Solutions is now expanding into the Houston market.
Co-founders Junab Ali and J. Javier Uribe have announced operations are under way in Houston; however, the physical office will not be open until January.
"We wanted to be a ’go to’ Hewlett Packard partner in Texas," Uribe explains. "That’s happening in Dallas and we want that to happen in Houston."
Uribe says he and Ali were discussing how to get a presence in Houston when they were put in contact with Lynsie Glenn and Jeanie Haro. Both women, who had been working for a Houston company that filed bankruptcy, came with experience in the industry, Uribe says.
"It was a perfect fit," Uribe adds. "It was the right time and place." With Houston’s size and the large number of companies located there, growth is not a concern for Möbius. Uribe says since HP now has one of its larger locations in Houston, it made sense to be closer to HP sales representatives rather than making the drive to Houston from San Antonio to work them. As a reseller of HP products, Uribe says he hopes to make Möbius the company large firms opt for to purchase their HP office equipment in Houston area. "By having an office there, this will be a lot easier for us," he says.
With the Houston location, Uribe says Möbius is now situated to handle customers in all of Texas and Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Möbius, which celebrated its five year anniversary in October, sells high-end and mid-range back-office servers and equipment to large companies. Among Möbius’ customers are Valero, Maybeline, USAA and University of Texas at San Antonio. Currently the company has more that 200 customers and 14 employees, and is expected to end this year with revenue at $30 million, double what the company saw last year. Ali explains the company’s original business plan predicted the company to be at $3 million in five years with less than 10 employees.
"We have done much better than we ever expected," Ali says. Ali says he believes the reason for such success is the focus Möbius has on its customers. The three locations in Texas, he adds, will make it that much easier to visit with customers face to face. "We put systems in place and we put people in place that have value to our (customers)," Ali says.
